Scalo's Northern Italian Grill Description:
Serving upscale Italian in a cleanly contemporary dining room in the midst of the action around Nob Hill, Scalo is one of Albuquerque's most reliable dining destinations. Overall the menu isn't exactly groundbreaking, but it does have its inspired moments---think orecchiette with duck confit, jalapeños, currants and cream or branzino with forest mushrooms and orange beurre blanc. And the classics are worth considering as well, from elegant carpaccio with grissini to the paglia e fieno ("hay and straw"), a two-tone pasta dish with peas and prosciutto. In summer, the patio is the place to people-watch; otherwise, come on Tuesday or Friday nights, when live music adds a festive touch.
