K and I Diner Description:
Also known as "Granma's", this spot is the quintessential New Mexican contribution to the Mother Road evolution of the highway diner.
K & I is known for their value, like their signature Travis Burrito, a HUGE burrito topped smothered in french fries, beans, and cheese. Even the Wimp Travis - 1/8 of the original size is ample for most appetites. Some of the least expensive items on the menu provide some of the most abundant source of, well, can we call it nutrition?
In addition to the Travis, I recommend Bert's Mess - a similar type event to the Travis, but with eggs & ham.
The atmosphere is very Southern/Southwestern with antique farm-equipment appointments in several rooms. There is a typical diner-style bar near the entrance - what used to be the original store.
The food is plentiful, there is plenty of room, and the value is terrific.
