C.H. Evans Brewing Co. @ Albany Pump Station Description:
This spot makes its home in a former city pump station, located in the historic Quackenbush Square section of downtown Albany. With lofty spaces, exposed brick walls, old grappling hooks and a fireplace, the Albany Pump Station retains traces of the past while employing modern brewing technology. The beers brewed on the premises (at least seven at any time) are available on tap, getting the thumbs-up from discerning beer fans. The fairly extensive menu features upscale pub food including a calamari appetizer and entrées ranging from jambalaya to a grilled sambol pork tenderloin marinated in sambol chili paste and teriyaki sauce served with rice pilaf and apricot chutney. While you will certainly be encouraged to eat, drink and be merry (while keeping the kids in line), it won't be a late night. Closing time during the week is at a sensible hour.
